# Lyne > Lyne is a social app for short posts. People write posts of up to 300 characters, follow each other, like, repost, reply and save posts, browse community feeds, group people into lists, chat privately, and control what they see with mutes, blocks and muted words. Anyone can browse public posts without an account. Sign up with an email and password or with Google to post, follow and chat. ## AI features Lyne uses AI for a few optional helpers. Every AI request goes through Lyne's server (never straight from the browser), every call is logged, and the helpers below have daily limits per person that reset at midnight UTC. - Review before posting: before a post is published, AI checks its text and image for spam, harassment or graphic content. A flagged post gets a "Review before posting?" prompt; the author can edit it or post anyway. Nothing is silently blocked. Posts published anyway go to an admin review queue. No daily limit. - Catch me up: on a post with 5 or more replies, a button summarises the discussion the reader can see in 3 to 5 bullet points. 20 a day. - Image descriptions (alt text): when an image is attached, AI suggests a description the author can edit before posting. 50 a day. - Search by meaning: in Search, choose Meaning (AI) under Posts to find posts about an idea even when they use different words, for example "posts about remote work burnout". 50 a day. - Muted topics: in Settings, Moderation, mute a topic rather than an exact word, and AI hides related posts from your timelines. Watch it at /how-to/tour. - Welcome: Lyne is a social app for short posts. Follow people, react to what they share, and shape your timeline with feeds and lists. - Home: Home has two tabs. Discover shows the newest posts and reposts from everyone on Lyne; Following shows only the people you follow. - Post: Select New post, write up to 300 characters and select Post. The counter turns yellow near the limit and red past it. - React: Like a post with the heart. Repost it with the arrows and it shows up in your followers' timelines, marked with your name. - Feeds: Feeds are timelines built by the community. Follow a feed to keep it, or choose Save to home to pin it as a tab on Home and in the sidebar. - Lists: A list is a group of people you choose. Name it, add people by name or handle, and open it to read a timeline of just their posts. Private lists are visible only to you. - Chat: Open someone's profile and select Message to start a private chat. New messages show as a badge on Chats in the sidebar. - Mute and block: Mute an account to hide its posts quietly. Block it to also remove follows both ways and stop replies, likes and messages between you. - Recap: In short: post, react and reply on Home, pin the feeds you like, group people into lists, chat privately, and use Settings to stay in control. ## Write your first post For new members. Watch it at /how-to/first-post. - Post: Select New post, write up to 300 characters and select Post. The counter turns yellow near the limit and red past it. - Image: Add one image per post with the picture button: JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB. Select the × on the preview to remove it. - Delete: To remove your own post, open the … menu on it, choose Delete post and confirm. This cannot be undone. ## Like, repost, reply and save For everyone. Watch it at /how-to/react. - React: Like a post with the heart. Repost it with the arrows and it shows up in your followers' timelines, marked with your name. - Reply: Select the speech bubble to reply. Replies appear under the post, and the author gets a notification. - Save: Select the bookmark to save a post for later. Everything you save is on the Saved page in the sidebar, visible only to you. - Notifications: Notifications show likes, reposts, replies and new followers. If something looks off you'll see Review before posting?: edit the post, or post it anyway. Nothing is blocked; a moderator may look at posts that go out anyway. - Alt text: Attach an image and AI suggests an image description for people using screen readers. It only fills the box while it's empty, so check it and edit it before posting. Up to 50 suggestions a day. - Catch me up: On a post with 5 or more replies, select Catch me up for a 3 to 5 point summary of the replies you can see. Up to 20 a day. - Search by meaning: In Search, under Posts, choose Meaning (AI) to find posts about an idea even when they use different words. Type what you're looking for and press Enter. Up to 50 a day. - Muted topics: In Settings, Moderation, add a muted topic such as crypto. AI hides posts about it from your timelines, even ones that never use the word. It can occasionally miss a post or hide a related one. ## Manage your account For members. Watch it at /how-to/account. - Settings: Settings holds your account: display name, handle, email and password, notification choices, appearance, and deactivating or deleting your account. - Notifications: Notifications show likes, reposts, replies and new followers. Select one to open it, or Mark all as read. Turn each type on or off in Settings. - App passwords: Under Settings, Advanced, create an app password for a separate sign-in. It is shown once, so copy it, and you can revoke it at any time. ## Limits - Posts: up to 300 characters, with at most one image. - Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB. - Muted words: up to 100 words or phrases, each up to 100 characters. - Feeds: one rule each (top posts, an account's posts, an account's likes, a keyword, or a list); up to 10 feeds pinned to Home. - Lists: up to 500 people each. - Muted topics: up to 20. - AI helpers, per person per day (reset at midnight UTC): 20 catch-ups, 50 image description suggestions, 50 searches by meaning.
